Here is a photo of an Ann Hatchett Sprague original oil on panel. The title is “Carbon Copy”. It is a minature, about 3”x5”.
I found this in an antique store in, if I remember, either eastern Washington or eastern Oregon.
There was a typewritten note attached which reads, “Carbon Copy” is the title of this work, which I consider to be Ann Hatchett Sprague at her most charming. It’s the sort of exquisitely detailed miniature which puts one in mind of a porcelain enamel. Ann prepares her board by using six coats of gesso, each left to dry and then sanded mirror-smooth; a technique perfected by the old Italian Masters.”
